HEIC to JPG Converter

Drop a HEIC photo below to save it as a JPG. iPhones and iPads take photos in HEIC by default, but many Windows programs, upload forms and older photo editors still expect JPG. The converter decodes the HEIC in your browser and writes a standard JPG that opens anywhere.

Drag and drop HEIC photos or paste them from the clipboard

HEIC/HEIF and other formats. Max 10MB per file.

What changes when a HEIC becomes a JPG

  • Quality starts at 80. That keeps photos clean at a moderate file size. Raise it for prints, lower it when a file has to fit in an email.
  • Location data stays behind. Strip metadata is on by default, so the GPS position and camera details stored in an iPhone photo are not written into the JPG.
  • Photos stay upright. Auto-orient reads the rotation saved in the file, so a portrait shot does not come out sideways.
  • Size is up to you. Keep the original dimensions or resize by width, height, percent or a preset, and crop with Edit.

How to convert HEIC to JPG

  1. Add the HEIC files. Drag them onto the upload box, choose them from your device, paste them, or import them from a URL or Dropbox. Each file can be up to 10 MB.
  2. Check the settings. JPG is already selected as the output on this page. Open the settings to change the quality, the size or the metadata options.
  3. Convert. Click Convert Files, or the convert button on a single file.
  4. Download. Save each JPG on its own, or click Download Files to get all of them in one ZIP.

HEIC to JPG questions

Will the JPG look worse than the HEIC?

Both formats are lossy, so the photo is compressed a second time. At quality 80 to 90 the difference is hard to see. Expect the JPG to be larger than the HEIC, because HEIC compresses more efficiently.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

Not when you add them from your device. The conversion runs in your browser. Importing from a URL or Dropbox fetches that file first.

Why does a file fail with ERR_LIBHEIF format not supported?

The HEIC decoder in your browser cannot read that variant of the format, which happens with some HDR, 10-bit and Live Photo files. Export the photo as a JPG from Apple Photos or Preview first, or try another copy of the file. The troubleshooting guide covers the other errors.

Can I convert several HEIC photos at once?

Yes. Add them together and each one becomes its own JPG. Download them one at a time or all together as a ZIP.

How do I stop my iPhone from saving photos as HEIC?

Open Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. New photos are saved as JPG from then on. The photos you already took stay in HEIC.
